“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose”. I know this verse is familiar to most of us. It is often used to counter ones feelings of discouragement. But have you  ever stopped to break down the nitty gritty of what this text is truly saying? Tomorrow we will do just that during our 10:30 worship service. You won’t want to miss out on the blessing this passage promises for your life.

Remember our adult class starts at 9:15 and will continue the study of Hebrews.

See you in the morning!

Bless those who curse you…

Don’t miss out this week! Start your day right by joining the Adult Class which will be studying Hebrews beginning at 9:15. Following class our worship begins at 10:30. You’ll want to be on time to hear the “young” voices lead worship. Then we will be studying Luke 6:27-29. This verse was selected by one of our youngest members and it has great council for us all! After worship you all are invited to Washington Park for a picnic (food provided). Go to the intersection of Franklin St and Virginia Ave and look for the white canopy. You won’t be able to miss the paper globes hanging from the tent (north east side of the park). Bring a chair to sit on – everything else – food, games, beverages will be provided. Bring a friend and enjoy the great weather!

What Bible verse would be on your “Bucket List”?

We began a new teaching series last week at Living Stone…one that requires your participation! Each week we will study one of your favorite Bible verses, stories, or teachings. You can nominate your favorite by replying to this post, or emailing them to Pastor Matt.   Last week we studied Proverbs 16:8. Tomorrow we will transition into a related teaching found  in Christ’s sermon on the mount. You can prepare for the discussion by reading Matthew 6:19-34.   Schedule is as follows: Adult Class (Hebrews) at 9:15; Worship (Matthew 6) 10:30.

Worship 6/1/13

What’s a “Bucket List”?…this term comes from the idea that there are certain “things” on your list that you absolutely must “get done”. Often this term applies to a desired vacation, sky diving, climbing Mt. Everest…(you get the idea). This week we are beginning a new series at Living Stone called “Bucket List”. During this discussion series each of you will have the opportunity to suggest a scripture, Bible story, or passage that you’d put on your “must have list”. As you begin making your suggestions we will compile an inventory of your collective favorites and be presenting them during the coming weeks. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be involved! You can reply to this post and leave a comment (suggesting your scripture). You can also email your suggestion.

Don’t forget tomorrow starts off with the Adult Study on Hebrews at 9:15 followed by FREE BREAKFAST at 10:15 (worship starts at 10:30).

Worship – 5/25/13

Judas Iscariot
Psalm 41:9

Adult Class begins tomorrow at 9:15 with continued study of Hebrews 7.  At 10:30 our worship begins with song service. We will then reveal how Living Stone plans to contribute to the Tornado Relief in Oklahoma. For the worship topic; we near the end of our series on the disciples of Christ. Please join our discussion on the life of Judas Iscariot. He presents a compelling story that you won’t want to miss. The opportunities before him and the choices he made are packed full of wisdom for us today. You can read about Judas in the following scriptures: John 12:1-11; John 13:18-30; Matthew 26:36-56; Matthew 27:1-10; Acts 1 (to name just a few).

Worship – 5/18/13

Judas – Thaddeus
John 14:22-24

Adult Class starts at 9:15 and will continue with the Hebrews study. Worship will begin at 10:30 with a vocal octette leading out the music. Then we will continue our Disciple series with Judas…but perhaps NOT the Judas you are all familiar with! This Judas is distinguished in scripture as being “not Iscariot”. You won’t want to miss this very interesting discussion. To take a glance ahead feel free to read John 14.
